An article from last year. Rennes really is the best place to live in France.

Today we wandered over to Parc Oberthür and saw that many tents had been set up in preparation for tomorrow's festival. We were eager to return the next day to see what activities will be ongoing.

We found some baby pine cones
at Parc Oberthür.
And some adolescent ones, too. First evidence of autumn in our neighborhood.
Soon these leaves will rapidly
change their colors.

The festival took place in our park starting at 11 AM. One of the things we love about this neighborhood is the large number of events hosted by the city throughout the year. This event had many booths for food and other products, information, about city services in Rennes as well as many toys, games and other activities for the kids to enjoy. Rennes is definitely kid, young adult and family oriented. Nice.

Many dance classes gave demonstrations
at the Forum Festif.
Our old friend the paper mache shark
made an appearance.
There were lots of family activities,
including field hockey.
There were about 20 learning games for
families to engage in.
The tree climbers using ropes and harnesses made it look easy! Another dance class struts.
There was an arts and crafts section, too. A sculptor showed the sculpting process. Some folks just came to enjoy the pond
and the ducks.
Lots of folks came out for the festival. Back at home Danny was happy in his box
with his sunbeam.
And Tommy was happy with his catnip shrimp.

There was a fire today near Novosibirsk, in Siberia at a virus research lab also referred to as Center of Virology and Biotechnology (VECTOR), a weaponized smallpox center.

Note: Siberia is on the opposite side of Russia about 3,700 miles (6,000 km) from France. So that is helpful. The width of the contiental U.S. is about 2,700 miles.

Forbes wrote an article confirming that the center is now storing ebola, anthrax and the plague.

"The [Russian] authorities reported that the fire 'was eliminated' in a area where 'no biological material' is stored, 'one person was injured and the building was not damaged.' Russian state media reported the facility's head emphasized 'the incident does not pose any biological or any other threat to the population.' History tells us this is exactly what would have been announced whatever the outcome."

Moscow Times reported on the accident with skepticism about the official government report. Apparently the Moscow Times is not a propaganda arm of the Russian government. I didn't know that.

Europeans pay attention to US politics and of late to the whistle blower-Ukraine situation.

In April of this year whistleblowers across the European Union won greater protection under landmark legislation. The law protects whistleblowers against dismissal, demotion and other forms of punishment. aimed at encouraging reports of wrongdoing.

It is the first time whistleblowers have been given EU-wide protection.

The rules have previously been in the hands of member states, resulting in a range of vastly different approaches. The differing composition and application of whistle blower laws throughout Europr resulted in poor protections for many in the EU.
