Two or three weeks ago John and I went to the corner grocery store and almost no one wore masks. After the reinstated federal mandate last week I went back to that store and only 1 person wasn't wearing a mask as she entered the store. She was told to put on a mask or leave. She put on a mask.

Many travel restrictions have been lifted and tourists started flocking back to France. Here's a timelapse of the Prom in Nice. Play it at 25% speed for a better idea of what's happening there. I remember the kites, boats, jet skis and flyboards. Cool scene.

The CovID-19 antibody test is now available everywhere in France at no charge. I'll be getting mine soon. I saw my doc on Friday and she asked me a lot of questions about how the Covid-19 situation is impacting my mental health. I think it may be something that everyone gets asked these days. Do you go out, if not are you afraid to go out? Do you want to go back to the US? Do you miss your friends and family and do they miss you?

This month's blog is mostly about our new kittens. We got them from Felin Possible, an animal rescue place in Rennes. We also looked at the local SPA website but the availability of kittens was higher at the place where we got Buster and Charlie.

About a week after the kittens arrived we took them to our vet for their second vaccination. Three days later I found a lump on Buster's neck and I panicked slightly. Injection site sarcomas are rare but that's what took Danny. John and I did more research and learned that lumps caused by vaccination are more common than the sarcomas and usually go away in 3 weeks. Also, the sarcomas never show up sooner than 3 months after the vaccination. Add that the lumps in the kittens' necks are much smaller already so - panic over.

John says he is relieved that things have gone as well as they have with Tommy and the kittens. He's glad Tommy didn't eat the kittens (because during their first meeting Tommy lunged at the kittens). I was holding him, prepared to intervene. Then I held him for about 5 minutes while the kittens moved about nearby. Then we all slept together in the living room for 3 nights and since then everything has been pretty good.

John and I are both very happy with Tommy's behavior with the kittens. Sometimes he plays with them but more often if I play with Tommy and the kittens come running and then Tommy will just stop playing. So one of us entertains Tommy while the other entertains the kittens. The kittens are wild about the cat fishing pole but even more so for the roller ball track and the laser light.

Charlie is a crybaby - but the cutest damned crybaby on the plant. Tommy is jealous. Buster is extremely social. He keeps trying to nuzzle Tommy who, so far, isn't interested.

If you don't know, there are very good reasons for hugging cats and kittens: it lowers blood pressure, makes you and the felines feel connected/loved and it provides opportunities for checking the kitties health.

Enjoy the pics! Oh - and a cartoon There is less of this since the kittens arrived. I think the little balls of energy need a lot of time to recharge. Ditto Tommy after a day with the little ones.

The third little brother on the right was adopted three days after we got Charlie and Buster. Buster trying to figure out how the kitty litter works in this new place. Okay, bro, we've got the kitty litter figured out. Now, where's the food?
Found it! Charlie thinks that under the chairs
is a safe place.
Buster likes all the kitty toys
in his new home.
Buster found a nice spot on the couch. Charlie likes Danny's old bed. He doesn't mind sharing with Buster.
Charlie likes napping in the sunlight. For the first few days,
Tommy was not a very happy camper.

Do you want to play?"

How to get up there? Sleepy Buster won't let go of his mouse. Buster is as tall as an electrical outlet.
